Iftar Provision

Ramadan Rations Project

In Ramadan, the YMA provides needy families, in some of the most deprived areas, with monthly rations. The YMA is currently looking to gain sponsorship to extend this project throughout the year.

Ramadan Iftar Project

During Ramadan, Iftar (Fidyah/Kaffaarah compatible) is normally provided to the poor at over 15 YMA-built Masjids and institutions in deprived areas where around a thousand men, women and children are fed daily.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

Whoever feeds a fasting person will have a reward like that of the fasting person, without any reduction in his reward.

The YMA distribute Fidyah, Kaffaarah & Zakat ul Fitr (Fitrah / Fitrana) directly to the poorest

Zakat ul Fitr (Fitrah / Fitrana) has a time limit for its delivery, while Kaffaarah has a daily and/or personage requirement in order to be valid – without which its repetition would be necessary.

YMA works with these principles in mind to ensure compatibility with all schools of thought.

The correct amount required for Zakat ul Fitr (Fitrah / Fitrana) depends on the country of the donor, however, the YMA recommends K400 / £4 / $4.50 / €4.25 per person.

Fidyah is recommended at the rate of US$4.50 per person.

Kaffaarah is recommended at US$35 for small Kaffaarah (e.g. kaffaarah of Yameen – oath breaking – 10 day).

Kaffarah is recommended at US$150 for large Kaffarah (i.e. Violating Ramadan Fast – 60 days)
