ABOUT US

Changing Lives For The Better

The Young Muslim Association (YMA) started on 16th July 1964 as a small charity working solely in Nairobi. Its mission was social welfare and youth awareness work. While at heart, the YMA is still an orphans-first charity, we have since gone on to include many different charitable activities in our operations. These include emergency humanitarian relief, food distribution, long-term water solutions, health provision, education, youth activities, vocational training, shelter, Dawah, Waqf, environmental and wildlife conservation and empowerment projects

Become A Companion of the Prophet (SAW) in Jannah

The YMA’s longest running and most important project is the Young Muslim Children’s Home. YMCH is an orphanage that was started in 1969 and has grown to its current size under the supervision of its director Shaykh Moti-ur-Rasool and other staff.

YMCH has supported thousands of orphans through its 56 years of operation . A total of 1,900 orphans have gone through the Home and currently, YMCH is the home of 249 orphans who are between the ages of 6 and 17 years, and 107 orphans in various High Schools in Kenya.

The Prophet Muhammed S.A.W said ; " I and the carer of an orphan will be like this in Jannah (paradise). " To indicate he held two fingers together. (Bukhari)

Girl Empowerment

Sisters of YMA, Women Empowerment Initiative under the Young Muslim Association has been donating sanitary towels to girls in schools, as well as engaging with them through talks, games, and puzzles, among other activities. All in efforts to promote women empowerment and menstruation hygiene education.

Tree Planting

We have been able to produce fruit, indigenous, and exotic trees in different locations. Within the Young Muslim Children’s Home Center in Garissa, we were able to grow a fruit garden and a little forest. We also managed to cultivate a fruit garden in Namanga, which featured bananas, watermelons, and mangoes, among other things.
